Enough about me. What do YOU think about me?
Ah, the narcissism of blogging.
In all sincerity, I really would love to know what you think about Those Crazy Schuberts (the blog – let’s not start pointing out MY faults).
So far, I know Linda loves the Etcetera posts. And I know Andrew loves everything I do.
I don’t like to lead such discussions too deliberately – but I hope that the discussion is better if …

I {heart} James Dean

Saturday we made a pilgrimage to James Dean’s crash site.

Although, can you technically call it a pilgrimage if we just accidentally stumbled upon it.
Serendipity.
Andrew and I left early Saturday morning to go to Paso Robles to check out a wedding venue with his co-worker (my April bride/groom). Google Maps took us via the 5 north and 46 west.
The drive up we had been discussing future daytrips we could take (since California is awesome), including visiting James Dean’s crash site.
And not 1/2 an hour later we passed a highway sign that …

Andrew and I are in San Francisco today – loving it.

Irving Penn “Small Trades” – Getty Center

I love living in Los Angeles.
There are always so many things to see, visit, tour, experience ….
I make Andrew come with me to as many as I can (it’s not as fun going alone), and recently we went to the Getty Center to catch the Irving Penn “Small Trades” exhibit before it went away.
Not only do I love the art – photography especially – at the Getty, but I love making a ‘date day’ out of it. On this Sunday in December, the museum was remarkably empty. We had a …

Andrew and Pangea in the studio

Andrew had access to the recording part of the studio for a few days at the beginning of the month …
He’s getting great at making the connections to expand his freelance work.
Speaking of – if you’re looking for a recording engineer for any kind of audio project, feel free to contact Andrew for a quote and availability.
On a Friday night, I stopped by on my way home from work and Andrew and Pangea were recording the keyboard parts for an upcoming release (I don’t know all the details, but …

There are a handful of pop singers out right now that I feel like I don’t know any of their music, all I know is the scandals revolving around their sad lives.  Out of the blue will be a name that one day means nothing and the next day I can’t escape it.  Like Chris Brown or Rihanna or Lady Gaga etc. etc. etc.  I have no idea what the songs sound like that these jokers sing.  And I’m irritated that I know their names and that I even vaguely …

I’ve been in the studio with William Keegan’s band Pangea since Wednesday of this week.  It’s been great so far (it’s Friday and I’m about to head back to the studio to do vocals and guitar overdubs).  We did 8 songs in one night.  Well, just the live tracks, but that’s still pretty great.
I worked with them in July of ‘09 and we did 5 songs.  A 7″ came out on Stress Domain records a couple weeks ago with 4 of the 5 songs.  Pick it up.  It’s limited to …

Here are a few songs that I’ve been loving for a while that have simple lines of truth in them, or just lyrics that ring true with me.
Paul McCartney’s “Here Today” about John Lennon from McCartney’s 1982 album Tug Of War

I think I just like the first two verses a ton, or just the idea of knowing someone really well and knowing how they would respond to you in any situation.
Nick Lowe – “Lonesome Reverie” from Dig My Mood 1998

Here is a link for better audio from the album, I …

Any one that knows me probably knows that I love the public library.  How great is it to be able to check out books, movies, cd’s etc for free.  I’ve been going to the library since I was a kid.  My mom used to take me to the Newhall branch of the Los Angeles County libraries.  At the time you could borrow less-in-demand VHS tapes for free and the newer tapes were $2.00 or something like that.  Once I got into music I would start borrowing tapes and cd’s.  I …

Sometimes I have these really great and frustrating dreams about records imaginary, real and out-of-print.  Usually in these dreams I’m in some record store or yardsale and I come across some treasures (say it like the character in Oh Brother Where Art Thou….”Trayzhere”) then I have to wake up and find that I did not track down those records and I’m not holding them in my hands.  What a bummer.  I’ve always dreamt about things like this.  It’s been records for years now, ever since I fell in love with …

Jamie Delaine Photography

If you have a need for Los Angeles Wedding Photography, you should definitely contact me. But if you have a need for Vancouver Wedding Photography or I am for some reason unavailable, you should contact Jamie Delaine.
Yup. Katie and Joe booked their wedding photographer!
Don’t worry – Katie still loves me and supports my wedding photography [in fact, we're planning on doing an 'Extreme Bridal' session with her and Joe]. But she wants to make sure I enjoy her wedding day and don’t have to work.
So, as soon as she got …
