We’ve been watching the X-Files recently.
Apparently (according to Wikipedia), true X-Files fans have named themselves X-Philes (from the Greek root “-phil-” meaning love or obsession). Not that we’re obsessed by any means, but I kind of love that fan-name!
Sidenote: I LOVE that we can live stream movies via Netflix through our Wii. We may not be watching our Netflix discs all that quickly, but we are DEFINITELY getting our money’s worth with the live streaming.
Andrew’s bday was Monday and he decided he just wanted to stay in all day and hang out …. so, we FINISHED X-Files season 1! Started season 2 last night.
There’s something about ‘Spooky Mulder’ that I just love.
Yes, the graphics in these shows are a little cheesy. Yes, the scripts started out as phbt but are getting better. Yes, they are about ghosts and extraterrestials.
But they are SO MUCH FUN!
I’ve seen some of the episodes…
When I was a sophomore in high school, my Chemistry teacher took maternity leave for the 2nd semester and we had a long-term substitute – Mr. Senate (he preferred it if we called him Mr. S)
The way our high school was set up, all the chemistry classes for all the teachers followed the same schedule/curriculum/etc. And since we all had to use the same lab space, we all did the experiments around the same time …
Since Mr. S was super fantastic, our class got days (and times a week or more) ahead of all the other classes…. And so, to kill time until EVERYONE moved on to the next unit, we would watch X-Files on DVD.
So awesome …
There are 9 seasons, I think ….. I guess they move from ‘monster-of-the-week’ episodes to over-arching themes of a shadow government, a ‘colony’ of extraterrestrials, etc …
I kind of love government conspiracy theory…. it’s fascinating …. I can’t believe the kind of nutty stuff people believe (p.s. I just started subscribing to a video podcast ‘Stuff They Don’t Want You to Know’) ….
I can’t wait til we get farther in the series where there conspiracy angle becomes more pronounced.
For reals. I love this stuff.

I love X-files. I have, of course favorite episodes that I have classified into different categories. Favorite episode of Mulder, Favorite episodes of Scully, etc. I want to watch the series over again! Your making me reminisce all those fun Sunday nights during middle school/highschool. Oh and David is so cute.
Side note, he is also great in Californication.
Dude, it’s been so fun watching X-Files. Are you sure you watched them as a sophomore on DVD and not VHS?
hoax hoax hoax hoax
There was a time in my life where “X-Files” was a family activity in our house. Every Sunday at 9pm, my entire family sat around to watch. It was a really great series.
