We have a ghost.
Ok, we *may* have a ghost. The evidence is still a bit thin. But we’ve only lived here for a month, so maybe the ghost is just getting used to us.
The first week we had the keys to this new apartment, Andrew made a couple small trips during the week to drop off some boxes. On one of those visits, he ran into one of our new neighbors who told him a little bit about the complex.
I guess this place has a LOT of older people. So many, in fact, that there is generally only a vacancy because someone has died.
Awesome.
And then we move in, and there is all this old-people contact paper in the kitchen. Not just old contact paper. But patterns that no one close to our age would choose.
I’m just saying.
So, of course, Andrew and I start joking about how our new apartment is haunted, since the last resident *obviously* died. Obviously. We don’t jump to conclusions just for our own entertainment. What makes you say that?
haha! Funny joke for Team Schubert! Our apartment is haunted!
But THEN!
The Keegan Grosses came over our first real night here, to bring us dinner (sweet!) and see the new place.
Eleanor (2 year old that she is) did a lot of exploring. Easier when it’s all just boxes and we don’t really have anything that needs to be child-proofed.
So, we’re all sitting on the floor in the living room, and Eleanor is wandering from room to room. Into the bathroom. Into the bedroom, back out again.
And then asked about the “Doctor”
um. What?
Oh, yea. Eleanor told us there was a “Doctor” in the bathroom.
He (apparently) later moved to the bedroom. Eleanor was concerned that the Doctor was on my bed.
Isn’t that sweet of her?
So, of course, I’m picturing this old old man, living here alone since his wife died. A retired doctor, but maybe he still volunteers his doctor-skills one day a week. Dying in this apartment.
And now he’s haunting us.
Welcome, Dr. Ghost.
P.S. All of that would be weird enough, until you here the other side of the story ….. Maggie blogged this same story this week : from her point of view. READ IT!

weird!!! you should learn about the history of the people who used to live in your space. ask the neighbors! sometimes ghosts are kind of warm and loving spirits. i had a friend whose house ghost supposedly saved her from falling down a 14 foot hole to the basement when she was a little girl. crazyyyyyyy
Okay, so this is a bit creepy but really cool at the same time. I have heard that children are more sensitive to paranormal activity. I wouldn’t fret, this ‘Doctor’ is probably harmless and enjoying your company!!!
Holy crap! I read both accounts and it gave me chills! Totally creepy!!
Yeah, kinda creepy. I definitely think you should ask the neighbors what happened to the people that lived there before. Of course, if you let your imagination run wild, you may not want to live there very long.
