This is our 3rd move in 2 years.
Seriously.
I packed books and art supplies and cooking utensils away 24 MONTHS ago that I haven’t seen at all.
But thought of wistfully.
If I HAD to find a particular book, there isn’t any possible way I could without opening SEVERAL boxes. SEVERAL.
I’m really hoping that with this new (bigger) apartment we are able to find the room and make a place for many of our things that I have been missing. I want to be able to COOK and bake again. I want to be able to find info in one of my reference books when I think of it. I want to be able to sit down and make a scrapbook page – without having to ask Andrew to get my paper and supplies out of storage.
BUT.
(there’s always a ‘but’)
I also want to buy a house as soon as is reasonable. With all my heart. My original “hopefully” goal was to have a house in time for a big 30th birthday party for Andrew (July 2011). Not sure that’s realistic.
Maybe my 30th birthday (April 2012)? ….. Maybe.
But then we’ll have to move again.
We’ll have to pack away all our books and art supplies and cooking utensils YET AGAIN. We’ll have to reorganize again. We’ll have to make sure we have furniture for guests that fit in the space we have. We’ll have to rent a moving truck again. We’ll have to paint again and change addresses and cancel utilities. All.Over.Again.
Apparently this new apartment complex is full of old people. When there’s a vacancy, more often than not it’s because someone has died.
I’m just sayin’.

I think next move we hire movers. Doctor Ghost
Early in our marriage we moved about 7 times in 10 years. I got to the point where I actually enjoyed it because it gave us a chance to clean, organize, rearrange and purge things that we weren’t using. When you stay in the same place for 18 years things just pile up and you never really have the time and/or motivation to do heavy purging of stuff very often. But there is something to say about owning your own place. I look forward to the time when you guys get to do that.
I just realized that we never lived on the 2nd floor in any of our homes or apartments. Interesting…
I feel your frustration, we’ve moved 4 times in 4 years. Despite hassles (huge ones) at this place, we plan on renewing out lease. Why? Because I don’t want to go through the damn inconvenience of moving anymore!! LOL!! We too, vow not to move until we are able to own a house. This will be a challenge. Unless something like a true emergency happened, we would move if we had to. But otherwise, we are staying put. We have a itty bitty 710 sq ft. one bedroom apartment, with 2 high maintenance small doggies =]. But it’s what we can afford. And it’s reasonable for Beth’s commute to work. And we are relatively close to the nursing schools I applied for. Not even my manager that I despise will make us move. Stick it out at your new place—it will be worth it when you guys get a house. HOW I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE DAY THAT WE DON’T SHARE WALLS WITH OTHER PEOPLE!! THat will be one fine day.
Looks nice . . . hopefully, we can come visit this one before you move again! I lived in 5 second floor apartments in a row between moving out of my parents house and moving into this one. At least lugging the groceries up is good exercise!!
