Did you know that the Los Angeles Times hosts a Travel show every year?
I didn’t …. until this year.
It was incredibly crowded and busy, and full of people trying to sell you things. But SO INTERESTING.
There was snorkeling and lassoing and surf lessons and golfing. There was an old greek man giving away alcohol and a booth where you could have your photo taken in cowboy or indian garb. There was an African musician. There were 2 (2!) booths giving away massages.
And piles and piles of paper with pretty photos, ads and info about a myriad of places.
There was a whole aisle pretty much dedicated to California destinations.
Amazing. Just amazing how much there is to see in this world ….
We stumbled upon the Rock Wall at the 1 moment there wasn’t a line, so Andrew climbed all the way to the top. He said it was pretty high!
There were a couple different venues along the side of the expo floor. We stopped by one that I thought was about South Africa, but it was more about the World Cup in South Africa.
We did learn though that South Africa doesn’t have much of a public transportation infrastructure, so don’t fly into one city thinking you can just hop on a bus to another city.
This cute woman representing New Orleans gave me Mardi Gras beads AND her little booth handout was a collection of N.O. recipes.
Awesome.
um. yea. HE was there!
There was a zip line. A zip line! Kind of like Andrew and I are going to do when we go to Costa Rica someday. There was a pretty long line to do this, so we just watched ….. I found this video online of someone zipping …
I’ve another post planned for tomorrow about the Rick Steves talk that we went to …. but for now, let me leave you with these images …..
All the goodies and info we walked out with. And I think we only visited maybe 1/3 of the booths!
We have our next vacation planned (Alaska cruise next summer) but after that …. so many possibilities!

True about South Africa, but there are pretty inexpensive flights you can take in between the major cities you would want to visit. Wow, I’m so awesome, I’ve been to South Africa! It’s the only place I’ve ever been, but it’s a pretty good one. Amazing country!
If we ever take another vacation (it’s been almost 3 years since our last) I’d like to do a tour of the South by train, go to the Galapagos, and definitely India someday!
Have you already decided on your cruise dates and cruise line, etc? Are you doing a one-way or round trip? Are you going with Julie?
