do owls know morse code?

“Hoooooooooo. Hoo Hoo.     Hoooooooooo . … Hoo. Hoo.”

Do owls know morse code? How come they tend to hoot one-long-two-short? What are they trying to tell me?

This is what I was thinking our 2nd morning in our new apartment. (The first morning, Andrew and I had to get up before sunrise to take the moving truck back. Not *exactly* relaxing). Not “I wonder if there is still hot water.” Not “wow that car drove by really fast.” Not “I thought Ben was 3 years old. How can he run so heavily.”  ….. no no. On our first morning sleeping in, I woke up thinking about birds.

Our bedroom window was open, soft light diffused by the pretty (and very green) tree just outside the window. There was just a hint of a very light breeze. The room was delightfully cool (because we finally have air conditioning).

It almost felt like we were on vacation.

We were both so happy to wake up in our new apartment. In a bedroom completely separate from the kitchen and front door. And I even got to sleep in and not get woken up by the numerous things that I had to deal with in our studio apartment.

And then Andrew reminded me it was Tuesday morning. If we had slept at the old place, I would have been woken up 3 hours earlier by trash trucks (felt like 12 of them) not 30 feet from where I slept.

So happy.
