Goals and plans and intentions and a to-do list for 2010
Yesterday I revealed my One Little Word for 2010: RISK.
This year, in addition to thinking about putting myself out there a little more, I’m going to articulate some definite goals and plans to try to accomplish.
Not resolutions. That’s too hard.
But an ambitious to-do list I’m OK with.
I am not differentiating between things that I’m sure will happen and things that will only happen if I put my mind to it. I am choosing NOT to acknowledge which are realistic and which are wildly unrealistic. Just go with it …
Some are measurable, some are not. Some are tangible, some are just themes.
For more ideas and inspiration for your own list, take a look at these from around the web to help your brainstorming:
- Elsie Flannigan of A Beautiful Mess
- Nick Onken (photographer)
- Kelly of Sage Wedding Pros
- Emma from Red Velvet Art
- Silje from Little Bird Crafts
- Color Me Katie
- The team at Southern Weddings
- Jordan from Oh Happy Day
- Michelle of Sage Wedding Pros
- (not for 2010 but) Melissa Jill’s 101 in 1001 list
Friends and family:
- Joe and Katie’s wedding (August 6)
- Katie’s various bridal showers
- host parties, holidays and get-togethers (assuming we are able to buy a house)
- Invite friends/family on our little adventures/excursions
- Remember/acknowledge as many birthdays as possible
Organization and home:
- Do more cleaning/chores/taking care of the home (only Andrew can say if I succeed at this)
- Start a home-manual (w/ details about our appliances, contact for companies we do business with and just an all-around go-to for day-to-day information
Environment:
- Reuse and re-purpose – rather than just throwing away or giving away
- Implement some of these tips
Business (Teegan Photography):
- Read at least 1 business/marketing book per month
- Keep up on my business/marketing blogs that I read
- Narrow down the wedding/wedding photographer blogs to only include people who truly inspire me.
- Exhibit at at least 1 bridal expo
- Finalize product offerings
- Put together promo video for the site
- Do some just-for-fun shoots
Blog (Those Crazy Schuberts):
- Continue to blog consistently Monday-Friday
- Find more ways to increase the SEO on the blog, increase readership and focus my story
- Add video (I think I’m going to get one of these cameras)
- Publish at least 2 free e-books
Financial:
- Tighten up our budget
- continue saving money for our new house, furniture, eventually-needed car, etc.
- Open an IRA account (for me)
- contribute to both my and Andrew’s IRA accounts
- knock out some more student debt
Travel:
- Hearst castle for my birthday (April 2-3)
- Mexico cruise for Katie’s bachelorette extravaganza (June 4-7)
- Paso Robles to shoot a wedding (April 10-11)
- Plan/book our vacation for 2011 (likely an Alaska cruise with Julie)
- Maybe a Sunday trip to Santa Barbara with Daniel and Jenae
- Maybe visit Jamie in San Diego
Health:
- Stop buying soda.
- Shop seasonally at the farmers’ markets
- Get my eyes checked
Just for me:
- More Andrew. Less internet.
- More crafting. Less internet.
- continue learning about American history (currently on colonial/Revolutionary War era)
- learn more about fashion photography
- shoot at least 1 role of film
- turn 28 years old (this one should be easy)
What do you have in mind for 2010?
