Confession: Of my favorite Christmas movies ever, I’d say A Muppet Family Christmas (1987 TV special) is probably #3.
The Muppets show up at Fozzie’s mom’s farmhouse; make food; make a mess; there are fights and new comedy partners; put on a concert, a home-movie AND a play; Miss Piggy has a photo shoot, goes Christmas shopping AND helps push a taxi out of the snowbank; and somehow they squeeze in the whole cast of Sesame Street AND Fraggle Rock all in about half an hour.
Somehow, that reminds me of Christmas day at Andrew’s parents’ house.
Last year I had to break our Christmas day pics into something like 7 parts? Ridiculous. This year was a little more restrained, but still a crazy mishmash of all kinds of things.
It was awesome.
Andrew and I headed up to Santa Clarita early-ish to make sure we were there in time for Julie’s breakfast casserole – a morning miracle of egg, sausage, gravy-ish and cheese.
Then Andrew and I had the fun of giving Hazel her Christmas present – a sock.
Just one sock. An old sock of mine that had a hole in it.
Really, both of the dogs love socks …. and we kind of love to mess with them too …
As I mentioned …. Andrew’s cousin Heather and her family (Edmund and Camille) came into town for Christmas again.
Check out the Christmas Eve post for more photos of Lucy LuLu …
Around noonish, Andrew and I headed over to my aunt and uncle’s house to take them Christmas fudge from Julie and their Christmas presents ….
Courtney showed off her newest most prized possession – an autographed headshot from Chris Colfer (of Glee fame).
A lesson for parents: It is usually the least expensive or FREE gift that your child will love the most.
Christmas gifts from Andrew and I pictured below.
Remember when I said I had the BEST idea for stocking stuffers?
Yea. That’s right.
We made all those (longer DIY post to come).
When we returned to the Schuberts’ in the afternoon, Jenae was there for a bit so Andrew&I and Daniel&Jenae exchanged our gifts to each other. Aside from the records that Andrew and Daniel opened the night before.
below (gift to Andrew): Shark fin salt and pepper shakers (!!)
below (gift to me): gorgeous vintage-esque necklace
To wrap up Christmas day part 1 – we played several games throughout the day.
In between eating, cooking, and opening presents ….
(yes, Andrew beat Labyrinth. He was very excited)
(below is some kind of wood-toy-logic game that Daniel was gifted from Jenae’s mom. I don’t think anyone ever solved it)
How was your Christmas morning? New traditions? Old traditions? Yummy food?
FYI – Christmas day part 2 coming later today

Love! Seeing all of these pictures puts a big smile on my face. Christmas was a great day, especially with everyone there.
I wasn’t ready for christmas this year. I don’t know why. I shopped less, which meant less wrapping, but I wasn’t prepared. I had a great day though and at least I got the breakfast casserole made. love you and love the pictures.
Looks like a fun full day!
