Things my wife loves pt.1

14 November 2009 by Andrew 3 Comments

Amy loves the 60’s.  She loves the music, loves to watch television shows that take place in that decade, loves the fashion, loves that Americans were fighting for change and for peace.  Ok, well she doesn’t love all the psychedelic music, but she knows just about every girl group song that ever was.  I can’t wait to build a time machine and take her back to the land of Mad Men & American Dreams & The Wonder Years.  It’s one of my favorite things about Amy, that she genuinely would feel at home during the 60’s.  And  I love that it’s not just some fad, I’ve known Amy for 10 years and it’s always been like this (it reminds me of our friend Michael McCurry and his love for zombies, not just lately, but he’s loved zombies for about 11 years or more).  One of the first shows/movies/miniseries I remember her loving and us watching together was The 60’s starring Julia Stiles.  Maybe I should just go on a clothes shopping spree and buy her all the fabulous dresses that Joan wears on Mad Men.  Anyways, I know that I posted this blog 53 minutes late (lazy) but maybe I should try to do a series on my tiny wife and everything I love about her, or just some things I love about her.  Instead of always blogging about music.

Currently Listening to:  Nothing, Amy is asleep and sick in bed.  Probably the sound of my tap tap tapping on the keys will wake her up.  Ok, off to work now where I should finish up tomorrow’s post.

The 60s were pretty awesome. Amy has good taste. You should definitely buy her some awesome 60s dresses. Joan is by far the best dresser on that show. Does Amy love all the sexual harassment on that show too? I think that is my favorite part. The 60s were excellent for sexual harassment. Martha Stewart had Bryan Batt (Salvatore) on her show once and she was talking about how she worked on Madison Avenue in the 60s and how realistic the harassment on the show is, but that in real life it was much worse. Awesome.

also – that thing you do, Hairspray, Down with Love and some others I can’t think of right now. …

(also, not a huge fan of the Vietnam war, but more of the Americans who sacrificed for their country)

I started the 60’s at 2 years old, so The Wonder Years is totally my favorite from that era. My mom wore some of those great dresses. And she wore hats too! I wish I had more pictures from that decade…
