songs, songs, songs, songs.

Here are a few songs that I’ve been loving for a while that have simple lines of truth in them, or just lyrics that ring true with me.

Paul McCartney’s “Here Today” about John Lennon from McCartney’s 1982 album Tug Of War

I think I just like the first two verses a ton, or just the idea of knowing someone really well and knowing how they would respond to you in any situation.

Nick Lowe – “Lonesome Reverie” from Dig My Mood 1998

Here is a link for better audio from the album, I just love the second verse, when the narrator just kinda gives up

Over there is where we found that little park
on the day you decided
to say that you loved me
I mean to drive on by
but as I’m parking up
I get into a Lonesome Reverie

I guess some of my favorite songs are sad songs. Or resigned songs. Simple songs that illustrate the truth of being in love. Ok I love love songs, I can’t help it.

Next weekend I’ll try my hardest not to blog about records, I mean I did ok on Saturday and posted mostly about the library. Maybe next week will be about my old dog Kodiak…or just some random thoughts kind of like one of Amy’s ETC. Wednesdays. That would probably have music related fluff in it….hmmmmm. Or about Dave Grohl and Them Crooked Vultures….we’ll see.

Ok, so even though I think that solo Paul is pretty weak sauce, I do love, love, love that song! I just really love their friendship. They were such a great team. I love great best fiend stories.

Finally sat down and listened to the songs you posted. I had never heard the one from Paul about John. It almost made me cry. I liked it.
