Photobooth Anniversary Tradition

Andrew and I have an anniversary tradition.

Our first anniversary (2006), we took a weekend trip to the Grand Canyon. Andrew had never been and I loved the idea of a weekend away (read: NOT visiting friends/family like we usually do). Lots of fun pictures, and I got to use my (then) new tripod.

Sometime between our first anniversary and our second, when Andrew was still working at the frame shop, a woman came in with a collection of 20-some photobooth strips to frame.

For the last 20+ years she and her husband had gotten a photostrip taken every year. Andrew says that their kids got in on it too, so you could see how everyone in the family aged over the several decades they had been doing this tradition.

Of course Andrew and I thought that was brilliant and want to do that too!

So, yes. We are copy cats. I’ve come to terms with it.

We’re going to *try* to do a different photobooth every year (not sure if that’s realistic) and *try* to only use analog photobooths.

Luckily, we found this great photobooth resource – Photobooth.net. Not sure how often these lists are updated, but there seem to be quite a lot in California. And, we figure if we’re away on vacation somewhere relatively near our anniversary that would be fun too!

So, we started with our second anniversary, and have done 3 total. Check out the images below. Even with only 3 years done you can see small changes ….

From left to right: 2007 (The Trunk Space, Phoenix); 2008 (newsstand, Burbank); 2009 (The Downtown Standard, Los Angeles)

Note: You can tell how much weight I’ve lost between the 1st strip and the most recent.

You may click on the images if you’d like to see them bigger.
