Disneyland with the Hanns (part 2)

And so continues the chronicling of our spur-of-the-moment Hann family trip to Disneyland.

My 3rd visit in a year. My first visit with Andrew in about 18 months. My first visit with my parents in who knows how long … 15+ years??

It. was. HOT.

As in I had to get napkins to sponge the sweat off of my face, and I never took out the cardigan that I brought.

Ugh.

After Splash Mountain, we headed over to California Adventure (where Kevin had never been), and visited a nice, cool place that we could sit down and cool off …

The Muppet 3D show in the Hollywood backlot part of California Adventure …

And, yes, even though I’ve seen this show many many times. … I still sat and watched with a big smile on my face, because I love the Muppets. Everything about them. All the characters, and cheesy jokes and history and everything.

I love that Statler and Waldorf characters are actually IN the theater with you watching the show. I love that Fozzie messes up at least one joke. I love that Sam Eagle puts on a show “celebrating many countries but mostly America.”

Love it.

Also, love this wave print below. I’d hang it up in my house …

Next, on to the Monsters Inc, ride. So fun.

Remember when I told you that Roz sang Happy Birthday to Michelle at the end of the ride?

When we went on it this time, the Roz character spoke directly to my mom.

Yes, she did.

“Hey. Young lady in the 3rd row. … cheeeeeeeeeze.” (because my mom was taking a picture of her.

I love Disneyland.

Some more wandering around California Adventure …

We went on the new-ish Toy Story ride (so fun) … I beat Andrew’s score, but Kevin beat mine. .. .

Stopped for fresh tortillas and a little snack …

Saw these ‘toy soldiers’ doing a show …

And the other 4 went on the roller coaster: California Screamin’

(not me. Roller coasters give me a headache and I was already feeling a bit sick from the heat)

{I love Andrew …. I love taking photos of Andrew in light like this}

Back to Disneyland to catch some more rides ….

We took the train around the park some (what with being tired at the end of the day, and all the crowds forming for the parade/shows, it just seemed easier)

disneyland-30

Autopia, Star Tours, Buzz Lightyear …. what else did we get?

Went to a late dinner in New Orleans square and caught most of the Fantasmic (what is it called?) show from far back …

(Again, scary stuff! A huge dragon breathing actual fire??? How many scared children were there?)

And finally, on our way out of the park we took the train ….

Through the “Grand Canyon” and Prehistoric scenes that are set up …

Would you beleive that Andrew and I had NEVER seen these!? My dad said that the scenes were basically the same as when he came over 40 years ago …

And yet, no one bothered to tell Andrew and I there was a T-rex back there… .

I didn’t know about the dinosaurs either. I probably always go on the same rides. Love the pictures, looks like you all had a wonderful time.

  • Actually, I’m sure you’ve been on the train ride all the way around so you would have seen it, but it was probably when you were quite young and it was one of the least memorable from a day full of Disney.

I look like such a geek on those roller coaster pics. I guess I just must have been surprised at how fast it took off.

I like the one of Dad and I at the end. I think I’ll steal it for my profile pic somewhere.

I had a blast! I was surprised that you all wanted to leave before closing time. I missed going on the Peter Pan ride. That would have been fun. Oh well…next time.

Did you hear that the Thompson’s are going in Nov? If you had an annual pass you could stop in and visit your out of town friends for a little while when they’re at DLand.

  • Yeah, I had so much fun. And I can’t believe there was a Prehistoric world and I never knew. I love that no matter how many times I’ve been to Disneyland I still learn something new everytime.

You Mom looks like she’s about to throw up on the roller coaster – while everybody else is having a great time.

AND…is Keven about to “neutralize” her in the 6th picture from the bottom?
