Getty Center – Photography Exhibits

Now that we live in Los Angeles, Andrew and I are going to try to get the the Getty Center at least often enough to see all the photography exhibits that come through …. that’s about every 3 months. We went a week or so ago, on the last day of 2 of the photo exhibits. Barely made it. And I think I missed one or 2 exhibits since I hadn’t been since January ….

I definitely need to make sure I go before January 10, so I can see Irving Penn and In Focus: The Worker.

We started with lunch at the cafe, and mozied on over to the photography building through the gorgeous Getty campus.

[sidenote: parking is now up to $15. I blame the economy and lack of private donors. So, if you are a multi-millionaire reading this blog, please donate to the Getty Center so my parking can be lowered again.]

I love that people come here and just lounge around on the grass, reading or napping or letting the kids run around.

I also love how many different languages and accents you hear if you eavesdrop …. comes with going to a cultural attraction in a major tourist city, I guess.

I didn’t make a huge effort to be stealthy and get photos of the exhibit …. but it was so interesting. I have so much to learn about photography and photographers and art in general …

No offense to Phoenix, but I’m so glad we moved back to Los Angeles.
