Our inheritance: vintage book collection

One day, when Julie and her in-laws were almost done cleaning out Papa’s house, she came home with a big box for me.

This I thought strange, since Andrew and I had already ‘claimed’ which belongings of Papa’s we really wanted and didn’t want to take advantage.

But what Julie had brought me was soooo perfect for me, I can’t believe it.

Papa had this set of books. All ‘Complete Works of…’. All the same/matching binding. All years and years old.

And really, who else in the family would get so excited about books like I did?

Here’s just a small fraction … I didn’t count exactly how many there are before packing them. … I guessed 30. Andrew guessed 50.

I was looking through these, taking some pictures and commented that I couldn’t wait to read them – and Julie seemed surprised!

Of course, I’m not planning on reading them NOW – but eventually. How interesting to be able to say I read the complete works of Tolstoy, or Voltaire. …. all kinds of good stuff.

Of course, this just reinforces the fact that we’re going to have to seriously invest in bookshelves when we buy a house – but I don’t mind.

want to read more?

Wouldn't it be nice to dedicate a room as a library, lined with book-shelves and comfy chairs?
    Yep, that's what you need.

Wow! Those are awesome! Dad may want to borrow a few. So what's the copyright date on them?

I think we should pray for you to find a house with built in bookshelves floor to ceiling in at least one room.

The collections of Voltaire! Candide was one of my favorite stories in highschool, I'm going to re-read it now! Thanks.
