My last morning in England I had made no plans – nothing at all except sleeping and packing.
We ended up leaving Miranda’s dorm around 11a (I think) so I had plenty of time to sleep in and take pics of Miranda’s dorm/building.
(Miranda and I traded off sleeping on the bed/floor and I got the bed the last night since I had such a LONG flight)
Miranda’s door … with the window above all covered up to block out light. The ceilings in this place were so high …. pretty cool.
Miranda’s radiator … with her bed kind of cuddled up to it.
She told me when it was really cold she would literally cuddle up to the radiator at night, and stick her fingers in between the slats … .
I don’t know how safe that is.
Miranda’s ‘pantry’ … on the shelf above her desk.
This is the window/radiator in one of the bathrooms (with the shower) …
even though it is a really old building with trashy showers, the bathroom was still a pretty cool place to be….
(the view from that same window)
the shower I used. … hard to tell from this photo, but it was TINY. … super tiny. With only 1 hook on the back of the door, and the likelihood that anything not on the hook would get so wet.
There was another bathroom down the hall w/ a couple tubs …
the stairwell in Miranda’s building …. sooo neat and over-the-top for a college dorm.
The END!
We took a bus to Heathrow airport (the bus driver gave me a hard time because I didn’t have anything smaller than a 20pound note).
I got to the airport in plenty of time (the airline MADE me check my carryon because apparently it was too heavy. Annoying).
Heathrow is interesting … there are big central lounges where everyone hangs out until about 20-30 min before the flight … and then the flight’s gate is announced. And then when you get to the gate you go through security, and there’s another smaller lounge just for your gate/flight.
I flew home on Virgin Atlantic. … awful. Some things were not the airlines fault (i.e. 5 screaming children, or mothers letting their toddlers run up and down the aisles and poke strangers) …. but really? a 12+ hour flight and no outlet for my laptop? Stupid.
Anyway.
England was awesome.
I can’t wait to go back with Andrew … maybe even as early as 2011. Andrew made friends w/ a Scottish band, so he’d like to go visit them soon …

I’m really hoping that we get to go in 2010. If we get a timeshare over there, do you want to come and stay with us?
