What I learned on my trip to England

  • International flights are the best
  • Flying alone is the worst
  • I will be flying first class as soon as I can afford it
  • When repacking your purse into a better travel bag, make sure to move the Advil/Excedrin/Tylenol AND the hand lotion
  • Why do I watch ‘American Dreams’ in public when I KNOW it’s going to make me cry?
  • old buildings are fascinating. Teeny tiny bathrooms but really high ceilings
  • Just because these are my “good walking shoes” doesn’t mean my feet won’t hurt after a full day (or more) of walking
  • When the prices are in pounds I don’t pay any attention to how much I’m paying
  • When I come back to London, I could spend 2x as long in any of these “sights”
  • When I come back to the Cotswolds, I want to go to a town that doesn’t have a train station.
  • I love public transportation
  • I adore tour guides and guided tours (in small doses)
  • I’m terrible at shopping for souvenirs – for myself or other people
  • Completely unintentionally, I have picked up a bit of British lingo
  • I can live several days without my cell phone
  • I’ve not yet had to live without email
  • I’ve already halfway planned my next visit with Andrew
  • I love Washington DC
  • Art museums are art museums no matter where they are. I think I’d rather people-watch
  • I can’t keep track of camera lens caps
  • I’m old
  • kids love tour guides
  • People are neither more nor less rude in England
  • When I travel, I need a mix of historical/well-known sites and relaxing/enjoying life as a local
  • scarves keep you warm
  • Parliament deliberated 10 hours on whether or not to support the U.S. in the Iraq war. They deliberated 600 hours on whether or not to ban foxhunting
  • The longer I am in a public place, the more I see people who remind me of people I know (ask Andrew about his theory)
  • Andrew only has time to blog when I’m out of town
  • I truly know a song for every occasion. Including a walking tour around Parliament.
  • Postcards are impossible
  • The first tiered wedding cake was made as a replica pf the spire of St. Bride’s church.
  • churches can be creative in their fundraising
  • a nice long, hot shower goes a long way to starting my day out right
  • Organ music just belongs in some churches
  • Excellent casting choice, Westminster Abbey
  • Make sure that you’re flexible with your plans
  • I need a different lens for travel. I think a 24-70mm zoom?
  • International flights are NOT the best
  • Don’t let anyone tell you Virgin Atlantic is amazing. it’s not true.

NOTE:
No photos til Monday. Don’t cry. You’ll live through it.

Phoebe blogged about Sunday (if you feel like a peek)
