As you all know by now, I NEED to get the bulk of my Christmas shopping done by Thanksgiving …. or it simply won’t get done.
This year a couple things got by me after the end of Thanksgiving – including gifts that are intended to be handmade (still not done). And some people (*Kevin*) who I didn’t even know if there would be a place to send a gift to.
The following REALLY help us get our shopping done early:
- We’re pretty conservative with our gift giving – basically only immediate family. And a limited budget for each. Which is still a lot (for us).
- Amazon – 70-80% of our shopping was done online this year. Mostly from Amazon. Which means mostly w/o shipping charges. I’m not a big fan of shopping at all, so if I actually had to leave the house every Christmas to spend hours and hours at a mall or similar, no one would be getting gifts from me
- We’re a team. Andrew handled a good chunk of the shopping for us. Love him.
- Andrew bought his own Christmas gift. cheating, I know. But totally what he loves and how can I deny him that at Christmas?
Not only that – but the bulk of our wrapping is done too!
Again, thanks to Andrew.
I LOVE to have all the gifts under the tree ‘go’ together. I love wrapping all the gifts I’m giving in the exact same paper. When I moved out of my parents’ house (the first time), I bought a big roll of Christmas paper from Costco and it lasted me years and years and years (in fact, we might still have it in storage somewhere).
This year, Andrew bought the paper (cute, white and blue, vintage-y looking paper) and wrapped all the gifts so far…
Let’s add that to the list of reasons I love him.

I also wrapped some christmas presents for my boss’s family…but I used 4 different kinds of paper. I’m almost an expert at wrapping now
I’m hoping to have a day at home with no-one else here so I can bring all the presents into the family room, put on a christmas movie and wrap, wrap, wrap. I have it all planned out.
