Let the Christmas season begin! (and a giveaway)

14 November 2008 by Amy 10 Comments

Ok, so maybe it is early for some of you.

But one of my favorite traditions for Christmas is to get all my shopping done early (like, by Thanksgiving) so I can really enjoy all of December. The events and decor and movies and music, etc.

I highly recommend reading Ali Edwards’ holiday post from a couple days ago … about simplifying the holiday season. It’s giving me a bunch of ideas.

I actually am close to being done w/ my shopping. Not 100%, but maybe 70%.
It helps that our list is short this year.
It also helps that I have Andrew on my team.

He always has Daniel’s Christmas gift picked out by Sept at the latest … because it’s usually something Andrew wants himself.

Anyway! Here are some ideas for your own Christmas shopping:

Christmas-themed gifts are always good.

Harry Connick, Jr. came out w/ a new Christmas cd (his 3rd, I believe).
What a Night!

This guy is amazing. As you may know. Andrew is giving me this as an early Christmas present on Thanksgiving. So excited.

Or, we always got ornaments as a Christmas gift. Usually something that has to do w/ something we accomplished that year.

I’m a big big fan of Amazon and their wishlists. Makes it SOO easy to make sure that you are getting someone exactly what they want. Your friends/family can create a wishlist (or, like me, several) and you can easily search for it with their email address.
Plus Amazon always has free shipping for orders $25 or more.

I’m also making some gifts for people. Obviously can’t tell you who or what.

If you’re looking for something one-of-a-kind, I suggest scouring etsy.com for something fun and unique. Mostly feminine, though. (ex:)

Or you can also search by theme (ex:)

now for the giveaway!

I have one of Angela’s handmade necklaces to giveaway.

She has recently opened up an etsy shop for her jewelry. If you don’t win this one, or if you have a bunch of gifts still to get, take a look at her selection.

In addition to the necklaces available, she can also do custom orders. I believe she can use any image that doesn’t have copyright restrictions.

Like personal images.

Like, for new grandmothers, for example. I’m just sayin’.

Email Angela about it.

Anyway, I have a necklace to give away to one randomly selected commenter:

il_fullxfull.42539103

il_fullxfull.42539102

She calls it ‘Echo Night’

handmade, tiled acrylic image, It is approx 1.5″X1.25 and held together by silver rings. includes the chain.

Leave a comment on this post w/ the percentage of Christmas/holiday shopping you already have done.

Comments close 10p PST on Sunday (11/16) and Andrew will help me to choose a random winner Monday morning.

I have…about 20% of my (our) shopping done? That’s just a few things I’m making myself, mainly. Still so many people to buy for!

I have the same amount done as Amy has, but I don’t wear necklaces or jewelry so please don’t count me in the running

I love the necklace! Put me in the drawing. I’ll have to take a look at her site too.

I have about 10% shopping done. I used to have it all done early, but for some reason just can’t get in the swing this year. Just not sure what people want…and not in the mood to shop for some reason.

Oh and don’t forget to do any of your online ordering thru GoodShop.com, it’s a great way to donate to charity without spending any extra money. The participating stores that you order from give a percentage of the order to the charity.

With the economy the way it is, they need all the help they can get.
