Tucson corn maze

We went to the corn maze in Tucson last night … unfortunately, my camera is too smart to take pics when its that dark. … It won’t take photos on autofocus, and it’s too dark for me to manually focus it … even with the flash.
Oh well.
Michelle brought her polaroid, so she’ll scan some of those photos for me.
In the mean time, here’s a couple:

first of all, I finally took the time to play with one of my lenses to see it I could do self-portraits. … It’s a very real concern .

Andrew and I got there about 20-30 min before and had ‘dinner.’ … nachos to share, and Andrew had a hot dog, while I had an ear of corn … That corn was so good. … sweet corn, I don’t think they put any butter or anything on it, piping hot, wrapped in foil. … so simple, but so good …
When Michelle arrived, we got some hot drinks to fortify us for our trek.

The cornmaze this year was shaped like a Tiger. and the map said there was 2 miles of trail. Yikes!
Within the full maze, there are 2 smaller mazes, and each maze has 6 check points (see below). Apparently, if you get all the hole punches, showing you’ve been to the different check points you get some kind of prize. Who knows. I just found the check points helpful for people to get their bearings. Some people went in with out a map. … crazy. But if you had a map, you could finally figure out where you are once you stumble onto a check point.
That’s what we did at first. Found #1, found #2 … somehow got lost and stumbled past #4 on the other side of a row of corn.
That’s when I took over.
You’ll all be happy to know I’m a ‘baller’ when it comes to navigating a corn maze.
I’m not going to lie, I think Andrew was really impressed with me. I lead the way, with the map and the flashlight, and those 2 followed behind, probably not paying attention to where we are or where we’re going. And then, 4 purposeful turns later, we’d be right where I intended: at a checkpoint.
I think it took us maybe an hour and a half to get through both mazes. …

After the mazes we got some more grub. Corn for me, hot dogs for the others. … Michelle bought us some fresh, hot kettle corn. Look at all the steam in this pic. That kettle corn smelled sooooo good.

Fun times! Andrew was dozing on the drive home, so I kept talking to him, asking him questions, annoying the heck out of him … but he stayed awake!
This was probably the only Fall-y thing we’ll do this year.
I’ll let you know when I have the polaroids. They were really fun!

I went to the corn maze last year in Tucson…hopefully I’ll get a chance to go again this year. I got one of those giant bags of kettle corn…sooooo good!

And thanks for the costumer ideas! I may have to steal the 50s housewife one because I already have some clothes I can wear for it!

Sounds like fun! Maybe we can ask Grandma Irish for some Fall activities we can do next Sunday?

Too bad Young’s Farm is gone.
