I forgot to post about Andrew and I seeing Little Miss Sunshine — Steve Carell’s latest movie …
last Wednesday we finally used our AMC movie tickets … we had gotten them for a Christmas gift almost 2 years ago, so they were about to expire … we never go to AMC … Harkins is closer and we tend to have free Harkins passes … anyway … we learned that at AMC movies before noon are only 5$ … so Andrew and I are going to have Monday Morning Movies … go to the movies and then lunch? nice cheap-ish date …
anyway … Little Miss Sunshine …the little girl is just the cutest thing ever … I wish she was my sister … while this is a comedy, there are moments that can bring tears to your eyes … I cried … I won’t tell you when, in case you see it …
Andrew and I did have a problem w/ the roadtrip consistency, though… we’re probably 2 of maybe 100 people in the world who would even know this, but still ….
basic premise is this family driving from New Mexico to Redondo Beach, CA for a beauty pageant …
but when their driving, we see through the window flashes of the 5 freeway when it breaks off into the 14 near SCV …. and then back to the middle of the desert … and then some freeway that is clearly Phoenix (I think where the 10 breaks into the 202/51) … then more middle of the desert … then all of a sudden they’re at this gas station that’s at the top of Hamburger Hill in Valencia … allegedly somewhere between before passing Phoenix on their trip … I’ve been to that gas station … I know it’s not in AZ or NM … sigh … and then back to the middle of the desert …. then Scottsdale (in the story, at least) and more desert … bothered me a lot … but, again, who else would even know?
Aside from that little tangent … it’s such a good movie … about a family … becoming a family … very sweet … maybe it will come out DVD before Christmas …
